One of my first non-nature related photo projects. Four of my friends agreed to model for me, and I drew "tattoos" on their backs with permanent marker, images, I hoped, that would represent four sets of wings. I tried to view the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse as Fallen Angels -- Death, War, Famine and Pestilence. These images were the result. Unfortunately, I didn't get nearly as many pictures as I intended, seeing as most of my models were half drunk when they showed up. Thanks, guys. There were two different shoots, with two slightly different back designs; the second shoot was far better. I understand that the images would have likely looked better without the jeans, but I couldn't quite ask them to take them off.
This model is one of my best friends; the biohazard symbol just happened to conveniently be on his back already (it's a tattoo), and it tied the idea of pestilence or disease together really well.
Taken with SLR mentioned in "tools of the trade" with Ilford Pan F +, hand developed in Zonal Pro and printed on Forte Warmtone Fiber Paper.
Wow, this is a really great shot. I like this one better than the others in the series, even though they are good too. The pose is great and the lighting combined with the grains give me a real feeling of it being ethereal.
To be honest, this is -- in my opinion -- the best shot in the entire series. It's the only one I felt really moved by, and it's the only one that I chose to mat and frame for my final critique. I kind of just thought I should post the other ones to show the progression. In fact, this entire series is about two years old. I am primarily a nature photographer, but I am moving toward glamour shots and some more interesting stuff with people; the model in this image is my best friend, and he agreed to do some more shots similar to these. So we'll see what happens. Again...thank you. I'm really glad that someone else notices that the rest really aren't that great.
I normally don't like grain, but in this shot it works very well. It adds to the dark, brooding mood of this. Additionally, I must say nice work with lighting, and designwork on the back.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
